Memorial Service for Dr Olive Sayce

Today the choir sang at Dr Olive Sayce's memorial service in the college chapel. Dr Sayce, Emeritus Fellow in Modern Languages, was a generous supporter of the choir and helped to fund our second choir tour to Germany (2009) and our first commercial CD recording (2011).

Choral Scholars' Recital

Tomorrow Somerville Music Society will present the termly choral scholars' recital, an excellent opportunity to hear members of the choir perform solo works and duets. This term the programme will include songs and arias by Händel, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Puccini, Strauss and Vaughan Williams.

Evensong at St. Paul's Cathedral, London

On Monday the choir will be giving its third performance at St. Paul's. The music for the service includes Stanford's Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in C and well as Howells' coronation anthem Behold, O God our Defender. The organ voluntary will be Wesley's Choral Song.

Organ Recital at Hertford

This week our Junior Organ Scholar will be playing a lunchtime recital at Hertford College Chapel. The programme includes works by Bach, Brahms, Reger, Elgar, Leighton and John Williams.
